Composite Veneers in London - Restore Your Smile with Cosmetic Dentistry

If you want to get a better smile, then composite veneers may just be what you actually need.

Veneers are a type of shells that are thin in structure and customised to cover the front of your natural teeth snugly to give them a great look. In fact, one of the several ways to change the appearance of your teeth is through veneers.

Veneers are of two main types: porcelain and composite. Just as the name implies, the porcelain veneers is made of porcelain material to fit over the teeth, while composite veneers are produced from a resin that has the colour of the teeth.

Composite veneers are considered to be a less invasive cosmetic dentistry procedure to regain your attractive smile. It is a great alternative to porcelain veneers, providing a beautiful appearance which is non-destructive to your tooth structure and will be long lasting. Composite veneers are often used in certain situations where there is discoloration or chipping of teeth. It can also be used where you need to correct slight misalignments and achieve a straighter look.

Composite veneers can be made of translucent resin that is sculpted properly and hardened by our experienced dentist at Museum Dental Suites. Patients in London can complete their treatment in only one appointment.

What are Composite veneers?

Composite veneers generally consist of composite resin with filling material that is the colour of your teeth.

These are available in different shades and can be made to make your teeth appear whiter. The composite material is moulded directly onto your teeth surface and will be shaped and polished to improve the shape or colour of your teeth.

5 Star Reviews - Museum Dental SuitesHighly recommend Museum Dental Suite. Their work is of the highest calibre, professional and friendly. I'm very thankful they for excellent aftercare advice and for making me relaxed and so well treated. I've recommended them to both my family and friends.

I have been undertaking a cosmetic treatment (Invisalign) for around eight months here, off the back of a recommendation of a friend who had the same treatment. The professionalism and perfectionism with which my treatment was delivered was outstanding, as was the general service and were all of the staff I encountered.

My dentist Dr. Wahab Shakir was particularly great, with a friendly, reassuring manner and an eye for detail. He always went above and beyond, without ever being asked.

I'm now almost at the end of my treatment and couldn't be more pleased with how treatment has gone. Given the service and end result I'd also consider it excellent value for money.

Keep up the good work Museum Dental Suites!

What are the types of composite veneers?

During your consultation, the dentist will give you different options for veneers: direct composite veneers, and indirect composite veneers.

Let's look at what these veneers types are.

Direct composite veneers

These veneers are made of composite resin material and bonded directly to the teeth. This type of veneer if recommended for and takes less time for the dentist to prep your teeth for application and the procedure is less invasive.

Indirect composite veneers

This veneer differs from the direct veneers in its application, and not in the material utilised. Just like your dentist would do for direct composite, your teeth will be prepared, but the veneers are customised outside of the mouth in a dental lab.

While waiting for the indirect veneers to be made, you will get a set of temporary veneers. During your next visit, the indirect veneers are bonded to your teeth with an adhesive. An essential feature of the indirect composite veneers is that they can tolerate more abrasions and resist breakage more than their direct counterparts. But they are more expensive.

Advantages of composite veneers

  • More affordable
  • Application takes lesser time if it's direct veneers
  • Can hide many aesthetic faults like discolouration, badly shaped teeth, and other issues
  • Nearly anyone can have it
  • The procedure is easier to reverse than porcelain veneers. Because it requires no drilling of teeth for the veneers to be placed.
  • These veneers are easy to repair directly unlike porcelain veneers which if broken require new ones to be made in the lab.
  • Since they don't have to cover all the tooth surface, they are ideal for diastema closure
  • Tooth drilling is not required, which qualifies it as a reversible and desirable form of dental treatment.

5 Star Reviews - Museum Dental SuitesFirstly what a great dentist, all the staff were friendly and very helpful as this was my first time here.

I had called for an emergency appointment due to a sudden cracked tooth and Dr Wahab Shakir despite the end of day fast approaching (30 minutes till close) he said he would see me.

The treatment was not straight forward due to the crack but Dr Shakir after a lengthy time managed to save the tooth/restore it and prevent what I believe most dentists would have done which install a crown - Thank you!

Highly recommend this dentist and service and I am grateful for not only seeing me within an hour but also staying passed closing time and finally for doing a Stella job.

This is a top notch dentist who makes you feel at ease which for someone liked me is important. The staff are very professional, polite, courteous and friendly. Marios, my dentist is extremely patient and cares about your dental care and the service you receive. Just received my new dentures and they have been done to a very high standard and am very pleased. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the treatment/service I received.

Procedure of composite veneers

The process starts with a thorough cleaning of your teeth and prepping for the application. Tooth reduction involving the removal of a layer of tooth enamel may be done by your dentist so that the material can fit. However, if it's just a slight changes to tooth colour and shape that's required, there won't be any need for reduction.

The next step will vary depending on whether you are getting direct or indirect composite veneers.

For direct veneers, the dentist will etch the enamel of your tooth so the material can stick. An adhesive glue will be added to bind the composite resin material to your teeth. Finally, very thin layers of composite materials are added to the teeth surface.

The layers of the composite resin will be cured (quickly hardened) using a special light. Working with your dentist, you can pick the colour or shade of resin of your choice. The dentist can mix different colours of composite resin to give your veneers a more natural appearance.

If you are going for indirect veneers, after prepping your teeth, an impression of them will be taken by your dentist. Indirect veneers are designed outside your mouth. After getting them ready, your dentist will bond them by etching your teeth and applying an adhesive to your teeth. It is this adhesive material that will keep the veneers in position.

Lastly, the composite veneers will be attached to your teeth and hardened with a light. Stray edges will be cleaned up and polishing done to make your teeth look beautiful. Most people do not require sedation to go through this process. But if you do, as soon as the anaesthesia wears off, you should feel fine to resume your daily activities.

Cost of composite veneers

You may want to consider the price of veneers because they can be a little more expensive. Factors like application time, that is higher for veneers, add to the cost. Next, the high quality of the materials used.

Composite veneers are inexpensive and they are less expensive than porcelain veneers.

What you pay for composite veneers will vary depending on where you live, your dentist, and the number of veneers you need. Composite veneers starts from £399 per tooth. Book an appointment with one of our cosmetic dentists at Museum Dental Suites for your consultation.

Insurance will not always cover the cost of cosmetic dental work, so you will probably have to pay for the entire procedure if you want to change the appearance of your smile. But where there is a damaged tooth, part or the cost may be covered by your insurance.

If the cost is a concern, talk to our dentist about a payment plan. Museum Dental Suites offer finance plan and also discounts for fitting a certain number of composite veneers at once.

reviews-star.pngBest dentist ever hands down. Least painful and least scary experiences here (I'm usually really scared of going to the dentist, and even find the initial anaesthetic injection painful) - they really care about the patient, and making sure you're comfortable, results are also fab. Seriously can't imagine a better dentist!
