Why You Need to Straighten Your Crooked Teeth

Why You Need to Straighten Your Crooked Teeth

People believe that the primary benefit of straight teeth is aesthetics. This, however, is not the only reason people use braces, though it still ends up providing a better smile.

It is vital to improving the straightness of your teeth. Here are the reasons:

  1. Protruding teeth can increase your risk of an injury

You can easily pick up an injury in your mouth when you have protruding teeth. You can easily bump on them during your daily activities, like eating and drinking. Knocking continuously on them can cause your mouth to suffer injuries and trauma. Some can even lead to cuts that end up looking like canker sores.

  1. It is easier to clean straight teeth

It is difficult to properly brush crowded teeth, especially if they are very crooked or overlapped. Some parts of the teeth will be hard to reach with the toothbrush. Leaving them dirty for a couple of days will cause bacteria to build up and flourish. Here, it will be challenging to have a fresh breath. You will also notice an accumulation of plaques and maybe tooth decay.

Our advice: it can be challenging to keep your teeth clean when using fixed braces. However, you can straighten teeth with Invisalign for easier brushing and flossing.

  1. Teeth can easily wear and tear when they are crooked

Crooked teeth quickly collide and rub together when you chew. It can lead to untimely wear, and continuous collision of the teeth will cause the enamel to wear away. Extra pressure on the teeth can also cause them to chip, break, or become weak.

  1. Crowded teeth can harm your gums

Just like crooked teeth can affect the look of your teeth, dental crowding can make your gums less healthy. Gum disease, like tooth decay, can be induced by a build-up of plaques which occur as a result of inadequate dental hygiene. You may experience symptoms like inflammation and bleeding when gum disease occurs. Without treating this mishap, it can lead to gum and bone recession and sometimes, tooth loss.

Our advice: Try using interdental brushes to clean your teeth. There are various sizes available, and your dentist will recommend the right one for you.

  1. It is challenging to eat well when your teeth do not bite very well together

If your teeth do not join when you bring your jaw together, it will be problematic to eat. Open bites, a condition where the teeth do not meet each other when the mouth is closed can make it difficult to bite food. People who suffer from this manage to bite and chew by applying extra pressure on the teeth.

  1. It can affect your self-esteem

According to statistics, people who undergo orthodontic treatment experience a lift in their self-esteem. We have also had a first-class knowledge of this in our patients. Also, according to studies, a beautiful smile is one of those key features that people value. Some even think that people with it are smarter.

  1. Crowding can progress and worsen with time

It is sad to say, but we have hardly found crowded teeth that improved naturally over time. It is usually the opposite. The teeth of humans move forward as they age, thereby contesting for space. It is widely believed that the eruption of wisdom teeth causes this shift. However, there are no scientific validations for this.

Our advice: After orthodontic treatment, keep your teeth straight using Invisalign retainers. Both the fixed and removable are okay.

Highly recommend Museum Dental Suite. Their work is of the highest calibre, professional and friendly. I'm very thankful they for excellent aftercare advice and for making me relaxed and so well treated. I've recommended them to both my family and friends.

I have been undertaking a cosmetic treatment (Invisalign) for around eight months here, off the back of a recommendation of a friend who had the same treatment. The professionalism and perfectionism with which my treatment was delivered was outstanding, as was the general service and were all of the staff I encountered.

My dentist Dr. Wahab Shakir was particularly great, with a friendly, reassuring manner and an eye for detail. He always went above and beyond, without ever being asked.

I'm now almost at the end of my treatment and couldn't be more pleased with how treatment has gone. Given the service and end result I'd also consider it excellent value for money.

Keep up the good work Museum Dental Suites!

Firstly what a great dentist, all the staff were friendly and very helpful as this was my first time here.

I had called for an emergency appointment due to a sudden cracked tooth and Dr Wahab Shakir despite the end of day fast approaching (30 minutes till close) he said he would see me.

The treatment was not straight forward due to the crack but Dr Shakir after a lengthy time managed to save the tooth/restore it and prevent what I believe most dentists would have done which install a crown - Thank you!

Highly recommend this dentist and service and I am grateful for not only seeing me within an hour but also staying passed closing time and finally for doing a Stella job.

This is a top notch dentist who makes you feel at ease which for someone liked me is important. The staff are very professional, polite, courteous and friendly. Marios, my dentist is extremely patient and cares about your dental care and the service you receive. Just received my new dentures and they have been done to a very high standard and am very pleased. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the treatment/service I received.

Best dentist ever hands down. Least painful and least scary experiences here (I'm usually really scared of going to the dentist, and even find the initial anaesthetic injection painful) - they really care about the patient, and making sure you're comfortable, results are also fab. Seriously can't imagine a better dentist!

After lots of research I was very happy with the results and the service at Museum Dental. 100% I would recommend to a friend. I couldn't be more pleased.

Look your best, feel your best, expect the best.
