Porcelain Veneers For Your Natural and Gorgeous Smile

Porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates are wafer-thin, customised shells of coloured materials used to cover the front surface of the teeth to give them a different colour, size, shape or length. If you're having uneven, stained, chipped, worn or misaligned teeth, Smile 4 U Dental practice offers dental veneers in Croydon that can correct these problems for you.

Procedure for getting porcelain veneers in Croydon

  • Diagnosis and treatment planning

This procedure will require your active participation by explaining to our dentist the kind of result you want. During this diagnosis, your teeth will be examined by the dentist to make sure porcelain veneers are right for you. Dentists Croydon will give you comprehensive treatment on porcelain veneers and may take and possibly make impressions of your teeth.
  • Preparation

This involves the removal of about 1/2 millimetre of enamel from the tooth surface; an amount nearly as equal to the veneer thickness to be attached to the tooth surface. You and our dentist will agree on an anaesthetic to numb the area after which he will make a model impression of your tooth. This model is taken to a dental laboratory for the construction of your veneer. The lab usually takes 2-4 weeks to send back the veneers to our dentist.

Our dentist will check if the porcelain veneers fit your tooth before permanently attaching it. To achieve a proper fit, our dentist will repeatedly trim the veneer and its colour adjusted with the shade of cement to be used. Your teeth will be cleaned, polished, and etched (roughened up a bit) for strong bonding with the veneer.

Applying a special cement to the veneer, the veneer is then placed on the tooth. Once properly fitted, our dentist activates chemicals in the cement by applying a special light beam to the porcelain veneer. This action triggers the rapid hardening or curing of the cement. Finally, excess cement is removed, your bite is evaluated, and any other necessary adjustments in the porcelain veneer will be made.

You may be asked to return for a follow-up visit in a couple of weeks to see how your veneers and gums are responding.

Porcelain veneers have the following applications:

  • Filling in gaps between the teeth
  • Repair of chipped or broken teeth
  • Improving tooth shape
  • Changing the colour of teeth
  • Helping with severe discolouration that cannot be fixed with whitening
  • Repairing damage due to bruxism

Porcelain veneers are good in the following ways:

  • Porcelain veneers are not easily stained
  • Porcelain veneers are well tolerated by gum tissues
  • They look like natural teeth
  • Any colour of porcelain veneercan be customised

Porcelain veneers may not be a good choice for persons with unhealthy teeth(decay or active), weakened teeth(as a result of decay, large dental fillings, fracture), or for those who lack the adequate amount of existing enamel on the tooth surface.

People who clench and grind their teeth are poor candidates for porcelain veneers because these activities could make the veneers crack or chip.
Porcelain veneers require no special care. Good oral hygiene is the best care.

Care for your veneers in the following ways:

  • Use a mouth guard for playing sport
  • Get a retainer or splint to protect your veneers if you clench or grind your teeth at night
  • Avoid eating with your front teeth and eat hard food with back teeth only
  • Do not use your teeth to open packaged goods.
  • Do not bite or chew on objects like fingernails, ice or pens

The durability of porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers can last between 7-15 years after which, they'll need to be replaced. There are alternatives to porcelain veneers. Although, as a nice intermediate option, veneers may be best suited for persons who desire to change their teeth shape a little bit more but not enough to require a crown. Visit Smile 4 U to know more about porcelain veneers and how you can get yours done.

reviews-star.pngHighly recommend Museum Dental Suite. Their work is of the highest calibre, professional and friendly. I'm very thankful they for excellent aftercare advice and for making me relaxed and so well treated. I've recommended them to both my family and friends.

reviews-star.pngI have been undertaking a cosmetic treatment (Invisalign) for around eight months here, off the back of a recommendation of a friend who had the same treatment. The professionalism and perfectionism with which my treatment was delivered was outstanding, as was the general service and were all of the staff I encountered.

My dentist Dr. Wahab Shakir was particularly great, with a friendly, reassuring manner and an eye for detail. He always went above and beyond, without ever being asked.

I'm now almost at the end of my treatment and couldn't be more pleased with how treatment has gone. Given the service and end result I'd also consider it excellent value for money.

Keep up the good work Museum Dental Suites!

reviews-star.pngFirstly what a great dentist, all the staff were friendly and very helpful as this was my first time here.

I had called for an emergency appointment due to a sudden cracked tooth and Dr Wahab Shakir despite the end of day fast approaching (30 minutes till close) he said he would see me.

The treatment was not straight forward due to the crack but Dr Shakir after a lengthy time managed to save the tooth/restore it and prevent what I believe most dentists would have done which install a crown - Thank you!

Highly recommend this dentist and service and I am grateful for not only seeing me within an hour but also staying passed closing time and finally for doing a Stella job.

reviews-star.pngThis is a top notch dentist who makes you feel at ease which for someone liked me is important. The staff are very professional, polite, courteous and friendly. Marios, my dentist is extremely patient and cares about your dental care and the service you receive. Just received my new dentures and they have been done to a very high standard and am very pleased. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the treatment/service I received.

reviews-star.pngBest dentist ever hands down. Least painful and least scary experiences here (I'm usually really scared of going to the dentist, and even find the initial anaesthetic injection painful) - they really care about the patient, and making sure you're comfortable, results are also fab. Seriously can't imagine a better dentist!

reviews-star.pngAfter lots of research I was very happy with the results and the service at Museum Dental. 100% I would recommend to a friend. I couldn't be more pleased.

Look your best, feel your best, expect the best.
